I like to do a cappella covers of known songs, and occasionally I'll add a second voice of instrumentals (usually percussion). Sometimes i do also like to make music with only a single voice of instrument (usually percussion) as a way to elevate the focus on each note within a melody. "Playing the silence" between notes as much as the notes themselves. Sometimes I also make parody songs. On rare occasion I'll build an original song. I consider this the highest form of literature taking a concept through multiple filters of: 1) an idea worth writing down, 2) structured into rhythm and rhyme, 3) set to music, 4) whose tone and melody matches the tone of the words, 5) in an instrument whose timbre is consistent with all that. Few ideas I have make it through all these filters to become an original song.
